Dr Paul Klaassen

Paul completed his undergraduate studies at The University Of The Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.

His internship and physician training were completed on The Gold Coast and in Brisbane.

His cardiac training was completed at The Royal Brisbane Hospital and at The Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane, after which He Undertook a fellowship In Interventional Cardiology in the USA at The University Of Minnesota, where the renowned Dr Christian Barnard trained many years before.

This was followed by a further fellowship In Interventional Procedures for structural heart disease.

He Has Publications In The American Heart Journal.

Upon returning to Australia he became the first Interventional Cardiologist on the Gold Coast to perform Mitral Valvuplasty and the first to perform ASD And PFO closures under Intracardiac Echo guidance.

He is the founder of Cardiac Care Associates.

His interests include structural cardiac intervention, valvuloplasty, percutaneous valve implantation and complex coronary intervention.

Dr Victor Chen

Victor completed his undergraduate and physician training at the University of Otago, New Zealand.

His cardiology training was undertaken at the Gold Coast Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital.

Thereafter he undertook a fellowship in interventional cardiology at the world-renowned Mt Sinai Hospital in New York under Dr Samin Sharma in the Center headed by Dr Valentin Fuster .

He returned to practise at the University of Otago in Dunedin for some years before relocating to the Gold Coast.

His interests include CT Coronary Angiography with advanced training in the United Kingdom as well as cardiac angioplasty and stenting, particularly in the setting of acute myocardial infarction.

Dr Robert Park

Robert completed his undergraduate training in Otago, New Zealand, and completed further training at the prestigious Green Lane Heart Hospital in Auckland.

He then completed electrophysiology training in pacemaker and defibrillator implantation and ablative therapies for cardiac rhythm disturbances in Christchurch.

Subsequently he underwent further advanced training in the United States at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Upon his return he practised in Townsville before relocating to the Gold Coast where he has established his private practice.

In addition to this he is currently the chief electrophysiologist at The Gold Coast University Hospital.

Dr Kuljit Singh

Associate Professor Kuljit Singh graduated from Goa University in 2003.

His internship, physician training and doctorate were completed at The University of Adelaide where he was awarded the Dean’s Commendation for doctoral thesis excellence and the Doctoral Research Medal.

He has multiple articles published in peer-reviewed journals.

In addition he has acted as reviewer for NHMRC, JACC, Heart, BMJ and the European Journal of Heart Failure.

His interventional fellowship was completed at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, Canada.

His interests include trans-catheter aortic valve implantations (involved in over 100 procedures)

Other interests include complex coronary intervention / stenting and rotablation.

Dr Kevin Franklin

Kevin undertook his undergraduate training at the University of Queensland followed by Cardiology training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane. He subsequently undertook further Echocardiography training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in the Department overseen by Professor Tom Marwick. Kevin has since been in private practice on the Gold Coast for almost 20 years.

His particular interests are in Stress Echocardiography, Clinical Cardiology and he has also held senior administrative roles in private cardiology and Cardiac Services Committees on the Gold Coast.

Kevin is responsible for the bulk of Stress Echocardiography performed at the premises.
